Holcim Philippines, Inc., a leading building solutions provider, developed the country’s first ever water repellent cement in March in response to customer demand for a product that may assist protect structures from excessive moisture.
Holcim Aqua X is a new product that is designed to protect structures like homes against water damage and deterioration. After a study revealed that 70% of homeowners and contractors regard water safety to be a significant issue in projects, Holcim Aqua X was created.
After steel rebars rust and expand as water seeps in, concrete walls and foundations with minimal protection are prone to cracking. Water seepage can also cause defects in painted walls. If left unattended, these might cause catastrophic structural damage.
Holcim Aqua X contains Active Water Repellent Boosters, which help to prevent harm from occurring. When compared to current procedures, such as applying a repellent to walls or including a water-proofing component in the concrete mix, these make it easier to construct water-resistant structures.

Last March, the new product was introduced to key clients in Davao, and by the end of the year, it will be available throughout Mindanao.
